Sunbrief as a Geekbot alternative for WhatsApp teams
Geekbot is a standup and ritual tool built for Slack and Microsoft Teams. Sunbrief runs the same core idea—private daily questions, reminders and a manager summary—on WhatsApp. This page was reviewed on 2026-10-12. Competitor pricing and feature cells come from competitors.ts; until those source URLs and checkedAt dates are filled, treat Geekbot cells marked TODO or "Verify with vendor" as unverified.
Who each tool is for
Choose Geekbot when your company already standardises on Slack or Microsoft Teams and people live in those apps all day. Choose Sunbrief when the real coordination channel is WhatsApp: sales and field teams, agencies with freelancers, Moroccan and Maghreb teams who mix Darija, Arabic, French and English, or any group that will not install another workplace chat just for a standup.
Channels
Geekbot’s primary channels are Slack and Microsoft Teams (see competitors.ts → geekbot.channels once verified). Sunbrief’s primary channel is WhatsApp Business, one to one from a business number. Sunbrief never joins or reads WhatsApp groups. If your ritual must appear as a Slack message thread, Geekbot is the natural fit; if the answer must arrive as a WhatsApp text or voice note, Sunbrief is.
Pricing summary
Sunbrief self-serve plans start at $9/month for Solo, with Team and Field priced per active member (see the pricing page for current numbers). Geekbot pricing must be read from the vendor’s public site—do not trust outdated third-party blogs. Fill competitors.ts geekbot.pricingSummary, source and checkedAt, then surface “Prices checked on {date}” with a link to that source. Until then we only state Sunbrief prices.
Setup
Geekbot typically installs as a workspace app inside Slack or Teams (verify setup steps on the vendor site). Sunbrief setup: create a workspace, add members by phone number, pick timezone and check-in time. Members never create an account; they only reply JOIN on WhatsApp before messaging starts.
Voice support
Sunbrief accepts voice notes, transcribes them for the summary, then deletes the audio. Whether Geekbot supports voice answers the same way must be confirmed in competitors.ts (voiceSupport + source). Do not assume parity either way without that source.
Languages
Sunbrief check-ins understand Moroccan Darija (Arabic or Latin script), Arabic, French and English; bot messages ship in English, French and Arabic. Geekbot language coverage belongs in competitors.ts after you verify it—leave the field as TODO until then.

Sunbrief column is product fact. Geekbot "Verify with vendor" / TODO cells are not claims that a feature is missing—fill competitors.ts source and checkedAt, then replace. Corrections welcome at [email protected].
Competitor facts marked TODO must be verified before treating them as current. Sunbrief details reflect the product as shipped.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Sunbrief a full Geekbot clone?
- No. Sunbrief focuses on WhatsApp check-ins, summaries and weekly reports. It is not a Slack/Teams app.
- Can I migrate a Geekbot question set?
- You can rewrite the same questions in Sunbrief Settings. There is no automated import from Geekbot.
- Where do competitor prices come from?
- Only from competitors.ts after you add a public source URL and checkedAt date. Until then we do not publish a Geekbot price number.
